"The gym was worth every penny" - Patrick G.
With gyms closed (or with a reluctance to return to them when they do reopen), this has been a fantastic investment - adding to the treadmill and dumbbells we already had and a few curl bars that we bought (along with a pullup station), we were able to convert garage space to a fully functional gym. The only thing missing is a leg press, since I am getting too old to do squats. For the money I paid, most functions are perfectly comparable to the expensive industrial equipment at the gym. Rear-Delt range of motion is a little clunky, and it lacks a military press feature, but the rear-delt (fly) station works well enough, and I can always do military with dumbbells. With the EMX and a few free weight bars and dumbbells, there is not a single exercise I cannot do, and there is no more waiting for equipment at the gym, and no more parking difficulties when I go, and no more excuses not to workout. GREAT INVESTMENT!
"I am very impressed with the quality of this machine and ease of use, I would highly recommend the purchase of this machine, be prepared to be patient when putting this together it took us over 6 hours to assemble, I would recommend separating all of the bolts and nuts before starting it, this will help when putting all of the parts together."
Do you need more space for your arms while using the press arm? You can adjust the bumper stop, but will have to adjust the cables too. You can also add a lock nut to the bolt of that bumper stop to lock it into place. Call for detailed help
Note: Leg Press, weight plates and other accessories may be shown in some photos, all sold separately unless specified above.

Wow, if you can make it through the assembly, this is a fantastic choice of home gym. I live a long distance to my closest gym and the gas to get there was getting way too expensive. After doing tons of research, I did a leap of faith and ordered the Body Solid EXM 2500 and I am thrilled! It almost completely replaces the upper and lower body workout that I have been doing at the town gym. I can do two different tricep moves, a lat pull down, pec exercise, seated row, two types chest press, leg extension and tons more. It doesn't do cable cross overs with both arms at the same time, but hey, I do them one at a time. One thing I do miss is a leg press which comes as an option from other sources selling this machine. The bad news is that Body Solid does not make this model anymore and do not have leg presses to sell separately. There are still some of the 2500s still available and I suggest you grab one fast. Now for assembly... I knew it would take several hours (like 6 ) and it did but the whole process would have been faster if they would have text instructions as well as drawings. I'm not a dumb person but it was frustrating. I had read another person's suggestion of not tightening the pulleys until running the cable through and that was absolutely true. It's things like that they could tell you in the drawings and don't. But now that it's done and I'm back on my workout routine, I am loving it. Between gas and gyms fees, I will have paid it off in a year! |

My wife and son are using this more than me. Works very smoothly and is able to handle my 200 plus pound body and my mutch smaller wife's. Make sure to take the time to follow the instructions illistrations. Don't get frustrated when you may have to remove a pulley or two after installing them to run the cables. You can't do mutch better than this, other than going to the gym or buying a more expensive item. |
Excellent Home Gym - George Murphy (Suwanee, GA) |

This is an excellent home gym. It is almost healthclub quality in construction, with smooth operation and a durable finish. It provides a wide variety of exercises in a fairly compact footprint. Moving from exercise to exercise is fast, allowing a very quick and effective workout. I highly recommend it for the price. |

The gym is well made and a value for the money. If considering, be aware that there are a couple of styles for this gym - a one weight stack version and a two stack version. I had a home gym before (Weider) and this one is both designed and built better. For a reasonable price, the gym offers a good number of exercise options. Thanks to other reviewers who warned not to tighten the pulleys when first installing them. While having pulleys in place makes stringing the cables easier, many must be taken out and reinstalled in order to place the cable properly. I also second other comments about the lack of good instructions. My gym came with a couple of additional inserts w/o explaining why they were there. The diagrams are OK but not great (e.g., in some cases, 2 pulleys are to be installed but the diagram only shows one -- the number of parts listed is only way to know). No written explanations anywhere. I also fault body solid for not marking the parts. Why can't each item be identified? Sauder places a letter on each item for its "assembly required" furniture. Each type of bolt could be in a separate marked bag rather than 8 types of bolts in one bag. Only time will tell as to durability - though I suspect that will not be an issue |

BEST PURCHASE IN YEARS!! - NY Letti |

After my husband and I had purchased a home gym in Sears, I went online to read the reviews. Needless to say, we returned it and I went on the hunt for an affordable home gym that was durable, sturdy, good construction, attractive and met the desire for us to get great resistance training! The BodySolid was a FABULOUS FIND!! The price was great, and even when I ordered it, I first ordered the lower price one with only one bench. Then I saw this one (EXM2500S) and thought it was worth a little more money for what you were getting. The vendor gave us great customer service and even gave us the lower price found on Amazon! When my husband assembled it, we were both amazed at the QUALITY at this price!! We LOVE IT!! Very satisfied with the construction and all the features to work all the major muscle groups! THANK YOU AMAZON!! I will highly recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable home gym! Great job Body Solid!! |

I just finished setting this machine up at my house. It is amazingly quiet and smooth!! The pulley system seems to be very good despite the number on the machine. Assembly took me, and a friend who sells commercial construction supplies, the better part of an afternoon but it works well. Don't tighten the pulleys until the cables are threaded!!! The cable ends BARELY fit through the pulleys when it is not tight. However, the assembly is completely worth the effort. (BTW...assembly is not as complicated as it sounds. It just takes a long time. There are dozens of nuts and bolts that have to be used throughout the machine. Make sure to get all of the parts organized before you start and be sure to pay attention to the differences in size and width of the various bolts. Other than that, it works pretty well.) I would definitely recommend this machine for anyone who wants a full club quality machine without the high price tag and large room requirements. |
Who needs a Chiropractor? - Ranz (Roseville, CA USA) |

A tad exaggerated but I just used the leg attachment. Lying on the floor (you will need a lot of space for this) I attached my ankle to the ab crunch pulley. If you have enough room and allow the weights to pull your leg up through your hip and lower back, the effect is similar to a mild traction! I have a bad lower back and the relief is unbelievable! I bought mine in 2001 - had it on one side of the bedroom. After 7 years and a remodel my wife had me toss it out. It sat in the garage for another year. I finally re-assembled it, dropped a piece of ¼ inch coin-grip pad underneath - looks so good! In terms of function, I can't say enough about the quality and versatility of this unit. I have the dip-bar attachment and oh man, I can feel my lower discs loosening and stretching out as I relaxingly dangle in between the bar. Yes and the pumping iron exercises work just fine as well. At 5, 8 this unit is perfect for me. My wife uses it (for arms and shoulder strengthening) and now my son who's turning 14 wants in! Oh well - 24 Fitness will get cancelled and as for that Chiropractor I was going to call - forget about it! |

Do Not, repeat Do Not tighten pulleys during assembly until you are through stringing cables. Others have said this but additional emphasis won't hurt. Otherwise, assembly is straightforward, the drawings are excellent but some step by step instructions would have been a blessing. A good set of socket wrenches is essential. Once assembled this appears to be a top quality well thought out machine. It provides a full array of exercises with easy reconfiguring from one to the next. |

I just wanted to say a few things about this product, first off I was very excited to pick it up. The gym itself is very sturdy and close to commercial gym quality. I think the guy's at Body Solid could do everyone a great favor though, by including some step by step instructions and better diagrams, as I blew some of mine up to have a better look. I feel like I could work on someones brain now. In all seriousness, this gym is quite smooth working, and the rowing station is my favorite. The one thing I would like to see is some kind of hollowed out head rest to go over the small pulley at the pec station and possibly another small one at the other seat with the high pulley. I like this gym, a great bargain and I also ordered a variable bench by Body Solid and it is good quality as well. I would have given this product five stars if it were not for the fact that I had to go to Home Depot to get a few missing bolts, and because of the awful diagrams. Overall, this gym was definitely worth the money. |

I purchased this exact machine in 2001, yes thats 18 years ago ! It is still as solid as the first day and works flawlessly. Have worn out a couple of components and body solid supplied me with new ones and didn't even charge me shipping. Very nice to deal with a company that builds quality products and stands behind them. Five stars for the entire company !!! |

This is actually a very good machine.....it works smoothly and dosent bind anywhere............I'm 6' 2" and it fits me and my long arms just fine. The instructions for this machine are terrible !........I am mechanically inclined and it took me many hours to build.....do NOT tighten any pully's till you run the cables !.........The picture instructions are not correct so just try to follow what you see and run the cables........it actually does work ok once you get the cables ran and adjusted. I actually did get quite frustrated with the instructions not telling you the correct order to set the items.........lol.......Just keep the faith and you will get it set up correctly. |

I bought this last year. It is 100% professional. Smooth, tight, solid. Shipping was faster than I expected. Everything was boxed/wrapped so there were zero dings or scratches. I paid my grandson (17yo) to assemble it, no problems. I also bought the additional leg press. I messed up the leg press cable--my fault--and I contacted FF, and they immediately sent me a free replacement! Great service, FANTASTIC product. Quality all the way! |

Got the best price buying direct here rater than Amazon or other methods. Assembly was a fun challenge- Be organized and layout your parts beforehand. Dont tighten the pulleys until you run the cables. The machine is very sturdy and well built, it should last with regular maintenance. Shipping and delivery were smooth and trouble-free. |

My overall thoughts are great gym for the price! I have been building my home gym with mostly free weights over the last few years, and recently my old lat machine went kaput. After doing a lot of research, I purchased this EXM2500S (w/ 210lb stack) and love it. There are some plusses and minuses I will throw in here, but it gets a 5 star from me. Plus - Fantastic machine with so much functionality for the price. I was looking for something to augment my free weights and be family friendly so my wife and daughter would use (Still working on that one...). Even if you don't have free weights, you can pretty much work all major body parts here. I would note that if you intend on making this your only piece of equipment, 210lb might not be enough for bench work, so I might suggest going with the upgraded stack. In speaking with the Fitness Factory guys, this is not really something you can simply add to later unless you plan on changing the entire stack. Buy nice or buy twice. This gym is so versatile then I'm using several functions that I did not really think I would - especially for isolation work. Minus - Assembly. OMG this was not easy.... But I was able to do it (kind of) with the instructions provided... I think they should include a participation trophy here. But, if I can assemble it, anyone can, because I suck at putting stuff together. I broke it up into several days and just took my time. Word of advice - DO NOT TIGHTEN YOUR PULLIES UNTIL YOU RUN THE CABLES. Some of the cable heads will not fit through the space once the pullies are attached. Also on assembly, plan to spend some time in the beginning separating all of the nuts, bolts, caps, etc. This took a lot longer than I would have liked. I just had to put on some good music and set about my laborious task. I would have been much better if they had these items either separated and labeled, or in one of those cardboard, shrink wrapped holders, segregated by by item. Some are pretty close in size, so I kept a measure close by to double check I was using the correct item. It would suck to get halfway through installation and realize you used a wrong bolt somewhere. I was surprised and impressed that I had the correct amount of everything to complete the installation. Plus - Body Solid customer service - Turns out that in the installation, I had one of my cables (On the lat pull side) run under an internal brace inside the metal arm, so I never saw it. This caused additional friction resistance that ended up stripping the rubble cable sheath from the cable wire. I had no idea what was going on there, I thought it may be a bad pully or something. I called body solid and explained my issue. The rep knew exactly what I had done, told me how to fix and immediately sent out a new cable at no charge. They admitted their instructions we challenging and they were in the process of revamping them. But hey - I got someone on the phone who was knowledgeable and provided great customer service. Who knew companies still provided customer service anymore? One other note - know that these shipped items are curbside and the boxes aren't light - so make time on delivery day and line up a buddy to help you move this stuff from the driveway to wherever you plan to unbox and assemble. Would not be good to have the boxes sitting out in the rain. Plus - I also have to give the guys at Fitness Factory a thumbs up. I have ordered a couple of big items from them and both times they have arrived sooner than expected and were very helpful and good at answering my questions. I hope someone finds this helpful. Buying this is no small amount of money and we want to make sure we are making a good purchase decision. In my opinion, although you have to invest time and effort (and some wailing and gnashing of teeth) on the assembly, I really like the finished product which will hopefully provide years of use. I'm very pleased with this purchase. - David |
